Conquering the Clutter Bug--FLYing Again

Hello. My name is Laura, and I'm a messie ;) As one of my naturally it's-easy-to-keep-things-neat&organized friends says, I have Flat Surface Syndrome--if it's a flat surface in my house, I have piles/clutter on it. Yep, organization does not come naturally to me. Can anyone else relate to that?

It's good to know we messies are not alone AND there is hope. I'm taking baby steps to conquer my inner clutter bug and FLYing again...have you heard of flylady.net? Flylady, aka Marla Cilley, is a reformed messie, and she shares encouraging words and plans for things that have worked to help her over the years. Did I mention she shares all of this for FREE--what a gal!

Years ago I followed Flylady's plan, and it worked! Why did I stop? Well, I guess I thought I outgrew the need for it when we moved to a new home...surely I wouldn't clutter in our new place--without an unfinished basement, how much stuff could I hold on to? Ha! Apparently unfinished attic space holds almost as much as unfinished basement space. Who knew? ;0

Over the last several months, I have started decluttering via eBay (which has been a surprisingly good experience & I'll have to share an update on that here on the blog very soon), but there's still quite a bit here that we use on a regular basis and I. must. conquer. the. clutter.

So with the start of the new month, I decided to take some baby steps and FLY again. I'm building new routines, one teeny tiny step at a time, and it's a good thing.  I'm on my way to being a reformed messie.

How about you? Do you like to organize or are you a SHE--Sidetracked Home Executive--like me? Either way, what's your 1 best tip to staying or getting organized? I'm all ears :)
